Dafodil is the name of the folk dance festival which will take place for the sixth time from May 10 to 12, 2024 in Diest. Dafodil means DAncing to FOlk music at DIest.

Dafodil is a festival which offers:

Two dance floors, used alternately and possible accommodation on site.

Carefully selected folk groups, good sound, gentle dance floors and a pleasant environment, also for children.

An eco-friendly festival: easily accessible by train, nearby campsite, healthy food with local products, healthy drinks and no noise pollution for those present and for the neighbors.

The choice of music is based on a broad view of folk, without restrictions. From different musical backgrounds, the program managers offer a folk musical mix with jazz, classical, pop and world music influences. The stages are open to local and international musicians who know how to express the rhythms of traditional dances in an innovative way, and these are not necessarily well known groups.

Dafodil is also a friendly and warm atmosphere. Everyone, including children, is given the opportunity to actively participate in dance and music.

We are targeting a mixed audience of all ages. The framework in which the concerts and balls take place allows a minimum distance between the musicians and the public. We also pay a lot of attention to local roots: in addition to attracting musicians and national and even international participants, we also offer opportunities for local musicians to perform.

For meals and drinks, regional products will be featured. De Buurderij, which is a joint venture of local and artisanal producers will be present at the festival.
