This workshop is open to everyone. We invite the students and teachers of De Prins and the locals of Diest to come and dance with us and discover Dafodil. In this dance initiation, beginners get every chance to take their first or second steps in folk dancing. Together with more experienced dancers they learn to enjoy circassian circle, andro, waltz, bourrée and others, under the expert guidance of Anita Iliaens. The ideal preparation for the ball on Sunday afternoon.

Daarnaast was ze ook tot voor kort docent logopedie aan de Thomas More hogeschool, dus er wordt steeds toegezien op gezond stemgebruik. Met haar enthousiaste lesgeefstijl is ambiance gegarandeerd!

Then this singing workshop is for you! We explore traditional songs from all over the world. Singing experience is not required. This workshop is given by Liesbeth Verlaet, folk singing teacher at the academy of Herentals and Mortsel. She sang with the folk groups Querida, Elllis and Misst. She was also a lecturer in speech therapy at Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, so healthy use of the voice is always monitored. With her enthusiastic teaching style, ambiance is guaranteed!
Deze workshop heeft als doel om later op dezelfde dag, gezamenlijk een bal van 1 uur te spelen voor de aanwezige dansers. Het repertoire bestaat uit traditionele dansmuziek uit West-Europa, zowel uit de oude doos als nieuw geschreven en eigentijds gearrangeerd. De deskundige leiding van deze workshop is in handen van Greet Wuyts, geflankeerd door de andere bandleden van de groep NOABER, Hans Jochems en Jan Leeflang.
We oefenen dansmelodieën in verschillende maatsoorten en toonaarden zoals schottisch, mazurka, wals in 3, 5 en 8, jig, polka, rondeau en bourree. We gebruiken bladmuziek, akkoordenschema’s en onze oren. Tijdens de workshop worden deze melodieën samen geoefend en gearrangeerd.
Deze workshop is geschikt voor alle instrumenten. We vragen wel om jouw instrument en de stemming daarvan duidelijk aan te geven bij je inschrijving. We verwachten dat je jouw instrument goed kunt bespelen. Geen schrik, we doen geen improvisaties, we blijven binnen de gangbare toonsoorten en snelle passages kunnen vergemakkelijkt worden. We vragen wel om het repertoire vooraf thuis te bestuderen om voorbereid aan de workshop deel te kunnen nemen. Daarom zullen de deelnemers alle partituren, alsook de midi-opnames van elke melodie ontvangen na inschrijving.

Cet atelier a pour but de jouer ensemble une danse d’une heure le jour même pour les danseurs présents. Le répertoire se compose de musiques de danse traditionnelles d’Europe occidentale, anciennes et contemporaines. Greet Wuyts animera cet atelier avec brio, accompagnée des autres membres du groupe NOABER, Hans Jochems et Jan Leeflang.
Nous travaillerons des mélodies de danse dans différentes mesures et tonalités, telles que la schottisch, la mazurka, la valse à 3, 5 et 8 temps, la gigue, la polka, le rondeau et la bourrée. Nous utiliserons des partitions, des grilles d’accords et notre oreille. Pendant l’atelier, nous pratiquerons et arrangerons ces mélodies ensemble.
Cet atelier est ouvert à tous les instruments. Veuillez indiquer clairement votre instrument et son accordage lors de votre inscription. Une bonne maîtrise de votre instrument est requise. Rassurez-vous, nous n’improviserons pas ; nous resterons dans des tonalités courantes et les passages rapides seront simplifiés. Nous vous demandons d’étudier le répertoire chez vous au préalable afin de bien vous préparer à l’atelier. Les participants recevront donc toutes les partitions et les enregistrements MIDI de chaque mélodie après leur inscription.
This workshop aims to play a one-hour dance together later that same day for the dancers present. The repertoire consists of traditional dance music from Western Europe, both old-fashioned and newly written and contemporary arranged. Greet Wuyts will expertly lead this workshop, accompanied by the other members of the NOABER group, Hans Jochems and Jan Leeflang.
We will practice dance melodies in various meters and keys, such as Schottisch, mazurka, waltz in 3, 5, and 8, jig, polka, rondeau, and bourrée. We will use sheet music, chord charts, and our ears. During the workshop, we will practice and arrange these melodies together.
This workshop is suitable for all instruments. Please clearly indicate your instrument and its tuning when you register. We expect you to be proficient in playing your instrument. Don’t worry, we won’t be improvising; we’ll stay within common keys, and fast passages can be simplified. We do ask that you study the repertoire at home beforehand so you can prepare for the workshop. Therefore, participants will receive all scores and MIDI recordings of each melody after registration.

Discover the many ways to play with rhythm in one of our most popular folk dances: the Schottisch. How do you recognize that rhythm in the music? And how do you convey it to your dance partner? And (re)learn the Schottisch impaire! Vary and improvise in this Schottisch workshop.
Tijdens deze workshop werken we aan het ritme en de variatie van een bourrée in twee tijden en een traditionele mazurka uit de Berry-regio. Voor de linkerhand onderzoeken we versieringen en verschillende fraseringen, progressieve variaties, en voor het ritme ontwikkelen we de polsbeweging in relatie tot de dans en de variaties. Voor de mazurka onderzoeken we het combineren van verschillende benaderingen van de chien-techniek (diverse oplossingen) en de swing van de linkerhand.
Vielle à roue avec Grégory Jolivet
Durant cet atelier, nous travaillerons sur le rythme et la variation d’une bourrée à deux temps et une mazurka traditionnelle du Berry. Pour la main gauche, nous verrons les ornementations et différents phrasés, variations progressives, et pour le rythme nous ferons évoluer le coup de poignet en rapport à la danse et aux variations. Pour la mazurka, nous chercherons à combiner ou explorer une technique de chien (différentes solutions) ainsi que le swing main gauche.
During this workshop, we will work on the rhythm and variation of a bourrée in two and a traditional mazurka from the Berry region. For the left hand, we will explore ornamentation and different phrasing, progressive variations, and for the rhythm, we will develop the wrist action in relation to the dance and the variations. Diatonic accordion workshop with Thierry Pinson
This workshop will focus on a piece from the Central French repertoire. It is open to 2- and 3-row diatonic accordions as well as chromatic accordions. The simple chord chart will allow participants to concentrate on a few suitable rhythms.
Level: Participants should be proficient on their instrument, know the left-hand chords of an 8-bass accordion, and be able to learn by ear. Beginners should not participate. Equipment: A 2- or 3-row G/C diatonic accordion or a chromatic accordion. Means for notating and recording. The sheet music can be sent in advance to registered participants upon request.

Elke De Meester (BANSK, Broes, Faran Flad, EveryGoodie, etc.) will first teach you a few (instrumental) tunes by ear, and then we’ll arrange them together as a group. Experience learning by ear is a plus, but beginners are also welcome. Scores can be sent by email afterward. A good basic knowledge of your instrument is required, as well as the ability to play in various keys, ranging from F major to A major.

Enkele hangjongeren maken kabaal en een brommer doet iedereen opzij springen. Enkel de dorpsgek vindt dat prettig. In deze workshop onderzoeken we samen met Wouter Van Petegem hoe onze dansvloer een prettig plein voor iedereen kan zijn.

The dance floor is like a square. Some people are chatting animatedly, others are strolling around, enjoying each other’s company. A few loitering youths are making a racket, and a moped makes everyone jump out of the way. Only the village idiot finds that enjoyable. In this workshop, we’ll explore, together with Wouter Van Petegem, how our dance floor can be a pleasant place for everyone.
Entre Deux is de muzikale ontmoeting tussen accordeonist Guus Herremans en bassist Jelle Van Cleemputte, twee muzikanten met een brede muzikale bagage en een onstilbare nieuwsgierigheid. Het duo verkent de ruimte tussen traditie en vernieuwing, waarbij de warme groove van de bas en het expressieve timbre van de accordeon samensmelten tot een herkenbaar en verrassend geluid.
Geïnspireerd door de cultuur en prachtige natuur van de Antillen creëert Entre Deux een eigen universum van pulserende grooves, lyrische melodieën en meeslepende improvisaties.
